MUSTANG GT learning exercises
Back in mid 2020 I began to move from Keyshot to 3dsMax and Vray, and wanted a project to get comfortable with the software. I toyed with a 2015 Mustang model I acquired off GrabCAD (uploaded by Faramarz Sakhaee) to do so, adding some modifications before composing a scene and rendering them using Vray.
The first of the two somewhat ridiculous cars to come out of this learning process was the solid axle, lifted, and exo-caged example you see below. the body kit and accessories were modeled in blender before exporting to 3dsMax. I think this still remains my most "out-there" car to date, but was a fantastic model for me to play with the new software packages. VFB steam and volumetric fog came together to add a real element of atmosphere to these shots, and the whole scene was a joy to build with Kitbash elements and building materials in Vray.
The second mustang I built was more focused on modelling in 3dsmax, with a full body kit pulling it closer to the ground and increasing its already aggressive presence. I wanted to play more with Vray's pre-configured materials for this one, and a darker scene that was lit by panel lights. The result focused more on the car than environment, but highlighted the lines of the body perfectly, harking back to the sharp fenders of earlier mustangs.

The wheel choice and stance is perhaps a little offensive to it's muscle car heritage, but that's a big part of the liberty that separates 3D work from real life - creativity without consequence.
These two projects were an important stepping stone in my hobby of rendering, as they showed me the new realm of possibilities that come with a good software and motivation to learn and improve one's skill set.

Combine this with the discovery of some incredibly talented and inspiring artists, and it's clear to see why working on 3D projects has become an integral part of the time I spend relaxing and learning new skills.
